Open Call for Summer 2023 Programming  

Satellite Project Space is seeking proposals from local artists and community organizations for summer 2023. Satellite Project Space is open to proposals from individual artists and artist collectives interested in organizing exhibitions, projects, and events, as well as local organizations interested in community engaged exhibitions and projects. Virtual programming to augment in-person programming is welcome.
The summer 2023 programming season runs from May to August 2023.

Exhibitor Responsibilities:
For exhibitions, the following minimum opening hours must be observed: Wed-Fri 2pm-7pm, Sat 12pm-5pm. The user is allowed to extend the opening hours.
The gallery coordinator will gallery sit for 2 days per week (10 hours) of the exhibition. The exhibitor is responsible for organizing gallery sitters for the remaining hours. The gallery sitting schedule will be determined with the gallery coordinator.
The exhibitor is responsible for the cost of refurbishment after their exhibition and is required to leave the space in the same condition as they received it.
The exhibitor is responsible for acquiring any required tools or equipment and for installing and de-installing the work.
For student projects, a faculty supervisor is required.

Exhibition Policies:
Unless otherwise approved by the Satellite Steering Committee, artists who are not currently students in the fine art departments at Western University or Fanshawe College are permitted to show their work in solo and two-person exhibitions at Satellite Project Space a maximum of once every 3 years/36 months.
Unless otherwise approved by the Satellite Steering Committee, artists who are not currently students in the fine art departments at Western University or Fanshawe College are permitted to show their work in group exhibitions (3+ artists) at Satellite Project Space a maximum of once every calendar year.
Unless otherwise approved by the Satellite Steering Committee, artists, curators, and community groups who are not currently students in the fine art departments at Western University or Fanshawe College are permitted to organize exhibitions at Satellite Project Space a maximum of once every 3 years/36 months.

To submit a proposal, please email the following documents as a single PDF file, with the subject “Summer 2023 Submission,” to satelliteprojectspace@gmail.com: 

  • Project proposal (max 300 words) 
  • Preferred dates and/or timeline for proposed project 
  • Personal information (name/s, address, website, email, and phone number) 
  • For individual artists/collectives: artist resume/s (max 2 pages) and artist statement/s (max 150 words) 
  • For organizations: brief description of the organization and its mandate (max 150 words) 
  • Three to five images of previous projects and/or proposed work (or links to online materials)
