Natural & Un is an exhibition focusing on the contradictions inherent in the process of art production within the work of Jessie Lush, Tayler Ratelle, and Cam Rosales. The mixed-media interactive installations in Lush’s work draw from phobia-based concerns and provide an experience that complements the subject. Ratelle’s work uses disposable consumer products within painting and sculptures to demonstrate excess plastic waste and the unnatural exploitation of fabricated materials. Rosales’s large-scale paintings represent water in various manners of natural processes (still and moving) to enhance creative painting systems that heighten emotional responses through colour and paint application. The exhibition elevates colours and materials that establish responsive experiences between the natural and unnatural balance of human behaviour.
This exhibition is part of the 2020 spring series of exhibitions by Fanshawe College third-year fine art students.
