Overlooked Spaces in Everyday Places presents a series of artwork depicting indoor/outdoor environments by Daera Judge and Libby Moran. Personal or public spaces are sourced, experienced and translated in this impressionistic artwork.
Colour combinations, opacities, washes all play a key role within material explorations of charcoal, pencil, stone or oil paint combined with various supportive surfaces that visually embellish depictions of mundane environments. Physical movement is important to understanding the making of these works for both artists from the initial subject experience to activities within the artistic process. Mark making plays a significant role in the aesthetic approach that configures their images. These constructed images unleash memories of familiar places now artistically occupied by realized/unrealized emotions that encourage an aesthetic comprehension to the significance played by these overlooked spaces and places of everyday life.
