Preserve is a collaborative exhibition by Glen Michano, from Pic River First Nation, and Emily Schuyler, from Oneida Nation of the Thames. Exploring themes of identity and memory associated with their cultural heritage, Michano and Schuyler create drawings and mixed media works that draw on personal stories and lived experiences on the reserve. Large scale drawings of traps juxtaposed with children’s toy animals on vast white backgrounds, and transfers of family photos on embroidered leather objects, give contemporary insight to lives shaped by colonial history.
Preserve is part of the spring 2019 series of exhibitions by Fanshawe 3rd year Fine Art students.
SATELLiTE Project Space is a dynamic partnership between three significant London, Ontario, arts institutions: Fanshawe College, Museum London, and Western University. The mandate of SATELLiTE is to provide a flexible space for new and temporary projects, collaborations, and experiments in the arts and culture.
