Vision Method pursues the idea of removing language and subject from familiar context and reducing it to a system of mark-making. This drawing-based exhibition explores contrast, repetition and exertion through experiments with contrast and a minimal colour palette. Hoy uses his drawings to try and invoke a controlled emotional response from the audience by using scale, presentation, and technique; his work evolves from a set of intricate systems employed to create labour intensive works. Penstone draws on the human experience by reducing the world around her to simple patterns; these patterns are employed in layered, meditative drawings that play with space while still following a mark-making system.
