Fascination is the next exhibition in a series of exhibitions showcasing Fanshawe College’s third year Fine Arts students.

Hailey Doxtator explores her childhood experience of years of speech therapy in a series of oil paintings referenced from annual school portraits in which a ventriloquist mouth has been added. Acknowledging the viewer’s fascination with Deaf Culture’s embracement of of American Sign Language (ASL) rather than oral communication, Doxator demonstrates her rebellion against society’s expectations.

Similarly, Darien Wren’s work reveals a fascination with society’s body standards especially as they relate to women’s makeup at the idea body aesthetic. In her colour photographs, she focuses on the psychological pressures associated with being a female in today’s global society.
