Monica and Ianʼs research are both heavily based in drawing, flirting with both figuration and abstraction. The drawings depicted in the panels of People and Animals are blown up images of doodles and sketches of people and animals, themes that are always present in their work. The process involved the artists experimenting with memory, representing subject matter while playing with a child-like approach to drawing. Through the curatorial process of choosing these drawings and reproducing them in large scale, thus translating the “fast-produced” sketch language to a formal piece of art, their work not only interacts with each other, but puts the viewer directly inside the resulting world within Satellite Project Space created by both artists.
