WISH

WISH

“WISH” is an installation on themes of queer identity, affirmation, and magic.
As a gay person raised a Jehova’s Witness, I found myself constantly wishing for a drastic change in my nature or to accept myself for who I was. To wish for something is to have optimism and a yearning for change, for good, for relief.
“WISH” is an installation that creates a setting that elaborates on the polarity of wishing while living in conditions so void of magic. “Queer magic” – or, to me, the magic of queer existence, is what helps carry me through experiencing adversity It is a magic I believe to exist in every queer person I meet.

Please note that this is a window installation meant to be viewed from outdoors, and Satellite Project Space is not open for visitors inside the gallery due to provincial COVID restrictions.
